Joao started having music lessons when he was about 5 years old, learning to play the reed flute. When he was about 10 he entered the Conservatorio de Musica de Coimbra in Portugal completing the 6th degree in Piano, the 7th in Music Theory and the 5th in Musical Choir.
Joao gained enthusiasm in learning other genres and started a self-taught journey in genres like Rock n Roll, Boogie-Woogie, Blues, Gospel, and Jazz.
He has also been a piano teacher along the way for students with ages starting from 8 years old to 55 years old.
Joao has also been involved not only but especially with a rock n roll/blues band. In 2018, he started studying a BMus Music Performance at the University of West London and is currently studying to take the ABRSM 8th Piano Degree.
“When teaching I aspire above all to make the theory practical and simple, that music and piano playing is more about hearing and expressing than a piece of paper with notation.”
